Domestic Goddess my arse!

These are the recipes I'm good at... quick, simple, out of the store-cupboard and onto the plate fare. I never spend more than 30 minutes faffing in the kitchen. So there.

This will be my recipe & homemadey remedy diary.

If you have those 'OMG! It's lunchtime and all I've got is a parsnip and a packet of boil in the bag rice.' moments, then you're a kindred spirit and you know that bad planning is often the mother of great food. So welcome to fast slurpy soups and 'really?' salads made from what's left in the fridge.

Never, ever believe there isn't something wonderful to make from the last 3 ingredients in your kitchen. Unless those ingredients really are fairy liquid, eggshells and dead flies.

Weightwatcher Friendly | Lively Butternut Squash Soup

Making soup has got to be the quickest way to a healthy, hearty lunch or supper. If you're a weightwatcher then you'll be after the holy grail - Zero Point Soup. For me I feel, that for the sake of a couple of points saved - you're missing out on some extra, uber delicious, flavour and nutritional wonderment.

So I unashamedly claim that this soup is WWer friendly - but it isn't zero points. To give it a fair shout-out, it isn't high in points - but it does have delicious, nutritious hemp oil in it - and if you are really going to do it justice - a gert big dollop of hummous too!

There I've laid my cards on the table.

Successful soup is all in the base and the fixings - that said. We can get on with the recipe...

Cocoa Loco Juice

Hello! Hello! This is a drive by blogging - just before a cheeky workout with el podgero*. I have been juicing pretty much every day for at least a year now - and while I love all the combinations that veggies and fruits offer - I confess I tend to stick with some old faithfuls and I was getting a little bored.

Juicing is healthy, fun and easy but come winter it's easy to swerve the undoubted wonderment of juice and head to the sandwhich aisle. Fine - if you're all good with wheat - but the grain doesn't love me.

So here for you is an accidental discovery - made this afternoon. I just needed something naughty!

I give you a beet juice with choccy woccy happyness thrown in...

Marty's Smarty Joint Juice

Marty's off again on another juicy adventure - this time he's so close to goal he can taste it. Now one of the reasons our Mart is so hell bent on getting the weight off is to be slim enough to have his hip replacement ops.

He suffers with his joints and as he's off on another longish Juice Feast in a few days. I thought I'd come up with a juice that will help his old joints - while he's focusing on losing a few more pounds.

This juice uses fruit and veg rich in antioxidents and copper and has a little belt of omega 3 rich linseed oil.

Now most of the studies of arthritis and oil are done with fish oils - but I'm thinking fish oil would just taste nasty in a juice. So I've gone for Linseed.

If you are keen on getting more omegas into your diet - then using veggie oils is a really good way - but remember, heating them destroys much of their potency - and left out on the side, they can go rancid too.

So do your oils a favour and keep them in the fridgey box.

The cart is nothing to do with the juice - but it is orange and I like the idea of mart taking his juicer on the road in a beautiful gypsy wagon...

To the recipe!

See in the dark carrot soup

Brrrr.... time to ditch the lunch-time sarnie and channel your inner Soup Dragon. We had this delicious pot of carrotty goodness for lunch today. The best thing about this soup is the fixings. You can change it from a well behaved,  mild mannered lunch companion to a fire spitting, hell cat you wouldn't dream of introducing to your granny, with the sprinkle of a few kitchen staples. Oh, oh, oh it's magic... you know- oh oh... 10 points if you can name the band! Oh and we scoffed it so quick I didn't take a pic but it looked as good as it tasted!
