Domestic Goddess my arse!

These are the recipes I'm good at... quick, simple, out of the store-cupboard and onto the plate fare. I never spend more than 30 minutes faffing in the kitchen. So there.

This will be my recipe & homemadey remedy diary.

If you have those 'OMG! It's lunchtime and all I've got is a parsnip and a packet of boil in the bag rice.' moments, then you're a kindred spirit and you know that bad planning is often the mother of great food. So welcome to fast slurpy soups and 'really?' salads made from what's left in the fridge.

Never, ever believe there isn't something wonderful to make from the last 3 ingredients in your kitchen. Unless those ingredients really are fairy liquid, eggshells and dead flies.

Marty's Smarty Joint Juice

Marty's off again on another juicy adventure - this time he's so close to goal he can taste it. Now one of the reasons our Mart is so hell bent on getting the weight off is to be slim enough to have his hip replacement ops.

He suffers with his joints and as he's off on another longish Juice Feast in a few days. I thought I'd come up with a juice that will help his old joints - while he's focusing on losing a few more pounds.

This juice uses fruit and veg rich in antioxidents and copper and has a little belt of omega 3 rich linseed oil.

Now most of the studies of arthritis and oil are done with fish oils - but I'm thinking fish oil would just taste nasty in a juice. So I've gone for Linseed.

If you are keen on getting more omegas into your diet - then using veggie oils is a really good way - but remember, heating them destroys much of their potency - and left out on the side, they can go rancid too.

So do your oils a favour and keep them in the fridgey box.

The cart is nothing to do with the juice - but it is orange and I like the idea of mart taking his juicer on the road in a beautiful gypsy wagon...

To the recipe!
1 large orange - take off the orange rind but leave the pith on!
3 large carrots
2 apples
1 thumb sized chunk of ginger
1 table spoon linseed oil

Juice all the ingredients and whizz in the linseed oil with a hand blender - add ice if you like it cold.

This juice is packed with vits and minerals and has the added support of the lovely linseed - which doesn't distract from the taste at all.
